As many now know, tragedy struck the city of Boston yesterday on Jackie Robinson Day and Patriots Day, as bombs exploded at the finish line on the Boston Marathon. Reports poured in as several have died and numerous others were injured in the explosion. It never ceases to amaze me though, that even the bitterest of rivals can come together as one during such turmoil. Across baseball today many teams, including the Yankees, held a moment of silence for the victims, while many other stadiums lowered flags to half mast. In Cleveland, the Red Sox and Indians wore black armbands, and Red Sox players wore cleats, gloves, and jerseys with the phrase, “Boston Strong” written on them. We were also lucky enough to witness as a sign was placed on the front of Yankee Stadium that featured the Yankees and Red Sox logos on it with the wording “United We Stand”. It is just proof that no matter what may happen, at the end of the day, we can count on one another to pick us up when we have fallen, and stand tall together to fight back stronger than we were in the beginning. My condolences go out to all who were effected in this tragedy, along with my thoughts and prayers. I ask that everyone take a chance to help in any way that they can, and keep the victims in their hearts and minds. Stay strong Boston.
